Sophisticated and Summery......The Bell-Sleeve Pencil Dress

If you’ve been following me on Instagram you probably know I mostly stick to flared skirts but I like to branch out on occasion and wear a pencil skirt or dress. Being pear-shaped it’s often hard to find dresses that aren’t too tight on the bottom or too loose on the top. Luckily I didn’t encounter these issues with Number 9 Fashion’s bell sleeve pencil dress. This dress comes in two prints, a blue and white gingham, and a black and white polka dot print.

My favourite part of this dress is the keyhole detail on the bust that adds a bit of fun of the dress while still keeping it work appropriate. I chose my usually Size L for this dress and it was a comfortable fit, the fabric is stretchy but substantial enough to not show off underwear or every lump and bump. The length was just below my knees which is perfect for a more formal work environment.

I am styling this dress 2 ways, one for work, and the other for a more casual look.

I think the black and white polka dot best suits a corporate environment. It’s such a classic colour combination for corporate wear. I think this dress shoes that workwear doesn’t have to translate to boring. I paired this dress with red accessories to bring a pop of colour that is still work appropriate. I think this print would work with so many colours like cobalt blue and mustard yellow, or you could keep it monochromatic with white or black pairings. 

Blue and white gingham is a favourite print of mine. With my red hair I feel like a modern day Dorothy, or in this case a more polished version of her. This dress is light and comfortable enough to be worn on a summer’s night out. I paired it with my brown Lipstick clogs, a yellow Review belt, and yellow Miz Smitten Kitten hair flower for a breezy summer look.
